i won't lie, i spent a decent amount of time perusing old entries of jeana sohn's blog this week. i love the way she sees things, and was meanwhile introduced to some new places in my native los angeles. one of which was the smog shoppe - a 100% solar-powered 6,500 square foot haven for desert plants, vertical gardens, and chic vintage furnishings. it's beautiful and i think would be a super fun place to host a wedding.

the big eat...

spent the past day and a half up in san francisco for a brief work trip which was great fun, but also a total tease. that city has so much to see design and art-wise, and so much to eat! i could've easily stayed a week. though i am giving myself a pat on the back as we managed to hit four of 'the big eat sf: 100 things to try before you die' spots in under two days. let's just say it's a good thing i packed leggings.

i think if i lived in san francisco, comstock saloon would be on my weekly circuit. the old fashioned damask wallpaper and concrete tile floors make for an unpretentious, and inviting hangout with a bit of an edge.

so i've returned to los angeles from a week in the city that never sleeps. we pretty much ran ourselves into the ground for 7 days straight, and saw (and ate) everything on my list. thank you so much for all of your recommendations - they were great! it was exhausting, but so, so inspiring. i'm sure you're all sick of my incessant new york-themed posts by now, but i might have to share a few favorite finds with you in the coming weeks.
p.s. really pleased with the photos from my trip using the new 50mm/f1.8 lens. i'd highly recommend it to any novice photographers looking for a shallower depth of field. here's one of my favorites, and i'll post more soon.

new york interior: thomas o'brien
i've always loved this feature on thomas o'brien's new york apartment - it's the perfect blend of masculine and industrial elements paired with one of the greatest artwork collections i've seen. planning to stop by aero while i'm in the city.

home tour (sort of): santa barbara

my jaw dropped upon entrance to my sister's cozy spanish-style abode on a trip to santa barbara this weekend. i couldn't get over how cute it was! unfortunately i didn't have my camera to snap some real shots, but my iphone did a pretty decent job capturing the flea market/collected essence of it all. kudos, sis.

modern steak restaurant
Posted on | 23 December 2009 | 1 Comment
on a trip to scottsdale this past weekend, i stumbled upon the work of hayes, inc. architecture + interiors. namely, their recent addition to the insanely huge scottsdale galleria with modern steak restaurant. it was very kelly wearstler (latticework ceilings, white lacquer, mirrors galore, bold schmacher fabric, etc.) but quite enticing.

a goop newsletter in my inbox this morning introduced me to bab hotel in marrakech. it's the perfect blend of modern and old world - very reminiscent of christian liaigre's style. these photos are making me want to jet set immediately.

daylesford organic
Posted on | 21 October 2009 | 4 Comments
woke up this morning wishing there was a daylesford organic in los angeles. the minimalistic product shots alone have got me drooling, but the location in the cotswolds and staffordshire are even more enticing. they even have a cookery school! this is going on my "one day..." list.
