this book that chronicles the creative brilliance behind the novogratz couple is a must read for anyone renovating on a budget. but even coming from a studio apartment dweller, i've managed to gathered quite a few tips on adding style in the simplest ways. here are a few of my favorites...

- upholster a funky cushion on a cheap lucite frame for a punch of color.
- start a cohesive collection of flea market art and designate one wall to display it on.
- pick a color and run with it - let the backdrop do the talking and keep everything else clean and simple.
- make a statement with lighting - i can't imagine a room that fixture wouldn't look amazing in.
