pilates

Posted on | 27 February 2008 | No Comments

i have stayed strong with at least one of my new year's resolutions of attending pilates classes once a week, and i can't be happier. getting up and out of the house by 8:30am every saturday morning has been totally worth it. i feel so revitalized and ready to tackle my day when i leave there, not to mention my instructor is fantastic and always plays such soothing music.

this dining room meets library is quite unique. love the combo brushed nickel chairs & slate blue walls. very contemporary, but the chandelier adds an old world sophisticated touch.

pretty bouquet

Posted on | 25 February 2008 | No Comments

i want to start investing in purchasing a bouquet of fresh flowers every week from trader joe's to grace my desktop. i know it'll brighten my day and i spend so many damn hours at the desk that it's sure to bring a smile to my face. $24 a month? i deserve it.

kathryn ireland

i never knew much about kathryn ireland until we met her for a class field trip. she is so funny, with her quick & witty englishness. you can tell she's one of those design geniuses that produces one-of-a-kind interiors. proof being the above image of her ohai home. swoon.

la vie en rose

i am so so happy that marion cotillard won best actress for la vie en rose. this movie was magnificent, largely due to her intense portrayal of edith piaf. i love french film and she is so demur.

audrey tatou

audrey tatou will be playing coco chanel in an upcoming french film. cannot wait. tatou is up there on my list of the few celebrities i'd ever hope to emulate, along with kate winslet, & rachel weisz. they all have this level of class and sophistication about them that you know you can't learn; you're just born with it.

saul steinberg for schumacher

i am swooning over these new schumacher fabrics & wallpapers designed by the illustrations of saul steinberg when he drew for the new yorker. my favorite is the wallpaper city edition of paris. i would love to do that in a powder room with an oversized gold baroque mirror and grasscloth wainscotting.

josef frank

i love these josef frank textiles that anthropologie began to incorporate onto their upholstered goods awhile ago. there is something so fresh and vibrant about a stand-alone chair with a statement fabric. a total conversation starter.

bed dressing

i've always been drawn to the endless ways of dressing a bed. from four-poster to extravagant tufted headboards, the bedroom is the one place you can really experiment and have fun since it is not a public area of the home. this beautiful canopy that would otherwise seem heaven and traditional takes on a fresh new look here with a simple color scheme and crisp white trim.

prints

i've been wanting this print for a long time, and when i finally get an apartment, i am for sure purchasing and framing in a clean dark stained ikea frame. i have a weak spot for cute sayings displayed in aesthetically pleasing ways. this guy in an entry or over a fireplace makes a casual and somewhat comedic design statement.

ideal bookcase styling. you don't necessarily have to wrap books to make them clean & organized on a shelf. color coordination in combination with some cleanly framed prints look divine.

commes des garcons

i've been wanting this commes des garcons t-shirt ever since i saw a model wearing it in an issue of teen vogue. so cute and chic. i can just see it paired with some fun flats and a black pencil skirt.

spring wish list

Posted on | 08 February 2008 | No Comments

with my spending habits being seriously curbed in the new year, i've found myself creating mental wish lists of what i would normally buy, but now cannot due to my new savings goals. perhaps instead of impulse shopping, i'll be able to really bargain around and do a one-stop 'spring wardrobe' spree and satisfy my inner shopaholic. so here goes nothin':
